2025 has been a big year for crypto, yet it may be saving the best until its fourth quarter, which historically has served as the peak of bull markets.
This was the case in 2017 and 2021, and it looks like it could be the case in 2025, with potential U.S. rate cuts and altcoin ETF approvals likely instigators of a big end-of-year rally.
While recent weeks have been difficult for the crypto market, particularly because of creeping inflation in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world, many tokens have moved into promisingly oversold positions.
This could mean that the market is close to rebounding, so we’ve picked the best crypto to buy in Q4 2025, when several factors could combine to push prices higher.
The five tokens we’ve selected are Ripple (XRP), Litecoin (LTC), Uniswap (UNI), Ethena (ENA) and Dogecoin (DOGE), which are among the top altcoins for 2025 by virtue of their fundamentals and technicals.
We’ll explain why they’re moving into a strong position to surge in the coming weeks, while we’ll also highlight their long-term potential.
Market Context Moving into Q4 2025
The total cap of the cryptocurrency market reached an all-time peak of $4.25 billion on August 14, when Bitcoin (BTC) hit its own ATH of $124,128.
However, BTC struggled to consolidate around this level, as official data emerged showing that U.S. producer prices had risen by 0.9% in July.
Markets worldwide were spooked by this lift in inflation, taking it as a sign that prices may rise even higher once U.S. tariffs – which came into force on August 7 – began to bite.
They’ve also taken it as a possible sign that the Federal Reserve may delay cutting interest rates, with the next FOMC meeting scheduled for September 16 and 17.
Such factors have kept crypto prices down in the weeks since August 14, while Bitcoin has struggled to remain above $120,000.
But while it has dropped below its 30-day moving average over the past couple of weeks, this has created an opportunity for a concerted recovery.
If inflation data eases over the next few weeks, and if the Fed does cut rates on September 16-17, then Bitcoin could recover strongly.
And where Bitcoin leads, altcoins tend to follow, especially if BTC can break through its key $123,456 resistance level.
This is particularly the case with the altcoins covered below, which are positioned better than most to take advantage of a more bullish turn.
Best Crypto to Buy in Q4 2025 – 5 Coins Ready to Explode
Here’s our roundup of the top altcoins for 2025, highlighting the fundamental and technical reasons why they may outperform market averages in the fourth quarter of the year.
Ripple (XRP)
At $2.88, XRP has declined by 7% in the past fortnight, yet it remains up by an impressive 400% in the last 12 months.
This makes it one of the best-performing cryptocurrencies of the year, and there are various strong reasons why it has posted such strong returns.
For one, the long-running legal battle between Ripple and the SEC finally came to an end in early August, after both parties agreed to drop their cross-appeals and after Ripple agreed to pay a $125 million settlement.
This has cleared the way for Ripple to continue growing its business, and in recent months it has secured a payment license in Dubai, for example, while also acquiring stablecoin infrastructure provider Rails for $200m.
As for XRP itself, it continues to benefit from plenty of bullish news, most notably the probability that the SEC will approve upwards of 10 XRP ETFs later in the year.
XRP is in fact already proving popular with institutional investors, as suggested by CoinShares data, and also by the fact that CME Group futures for XRP reached $1 billion in open interest in only a couple of months.
However, the approval of spot-based ETFs would send it flying, potentially to a new high beyond $4, and even towards $7 if wider market conditions were bullish.
This is why it’s one of the best cryptocurrencies to invest in now, and if Ripple continues to expand its cross-border payment business, the longer term could even see it rise beyond $10.
Litecoin (LTC)
As with XRP, Litecoin is another cryptocurrency that’s in a technically oversold position, and which should begin recovering soon.
It’s currently trading at around $110, which represents an 8% drop in the past fortnight, although it is up by 2.5% in a month and by 75% in the past year.
These aren’t spectacular percentages, but if we look at LTC’s chart we can see that it’s not too far from bottoming out.
Its relative strength index has fallen below 50 and may not be far away from touching 30, while its moving average convergence divergence (MACD) is just turning negative.
It’s also worth pointing out that LTC is 73% below its ATH of $410, which it set back in May 2021.
In other words, it’s arguably very undervalued right now, with plenty of space to catch up with other coins that have recorded new ATHs during the current cycle.
And there are fundamental reasons to be optimistic about LTC, not least because there are three Litecoin ETF applications awaiting review, and Bloomberg analysts give them the highest odds of approval of any alt.
If the SEC does approve the three applications, and if we see rate cuts later in the year, then the Litecoin price could rally all the way to $200 by the middle of Q4.
Longer term, it could potentially end 2025 close to $300, while 2026 and beyond may bring a pursuit of $1,000.

Uniswap (UNI)
Trading at $9.69, Uniswap has lost 6% in a week, but is up by 8% in a month and by 68% in the past year.
Despite its recent correction, there’s no doubt that UNI is one of the top altcoin breakout coins to watch, simply because of its peerless fundamentals.
Its native platform remains the biggest dapp in the entire crypto sector in terms of 24-hour volume, which at last count stood at $11.25 billion.And because it’s likely to remain the biggest decentralised exchange (DEX) for the foreseeable future, we can expect UNI to be one of the best cryptocurrencies to invest in for a while.
What’s interesting about its recent performance is that it dropped below its 50% Fibonacci retracement level, a key sign of overselling.
The coin’s RSI and MACD support this conclusion, given that they’ve both dropped into negative territory in recent days, another sign that a reversal should soon be arriving.
In view of its Fib levels, two key resistance levels to watch out for are $11.45 and $12.20, which represent the coin’s highest prices since late January.
It will need a push from Bitcoin to decisively break through these thresholds, but if it does, we could see its price surge towards $20 at some point in Q4.
Longer term, its status as the market’s leading DEX will help it push on, with the coin having a strong chance of reclaiming its ATH of $44.92 (set in May 2021) in 2026.
Ethena (ENA)
Currently the 41st-biggest altcoin in the market, Ethena (ENA) is an Ethereum-based DeFi protocol which issues its own synthetic dollar, USDe.
USDe is now the third-biggest stablecoin in the market by cap, with its growth helping to propel ENA up the charts.
ENA has posted an impressive 168% return in the last 12 months, while it’s also up by 17% in the last 30 days, despite more recent losses.
And as far as the final quarter of the year is concerned, ENA has the potential to be a high-reward alt, with its chart showing potential for a big climb.
In the near term, what we could see is the ENA price dip a little further, given that its RSI and MACD are still yet to turn negative.
It could bottom out at $0.54 support level, before mounting a recovery back up to $0.70 and then $0.80, which is its primary resistance level at the moment.
As with the other coins on this list, it will need external factors – such as rate cuts and ETF approvals – to recover some of its former momentum, while it will also need BTC to break through its own resistance (at around $124,000).
But if these conditions are met, ENA undoubtedly has the potential to be one of the top altcoins for 2025.
Its trading volume remains considerably higher than where it was three months ago, while it has also seen notable purchases from whales in recent weeks, including from BitMex founder Arthur Hayes.
It could end Q4 close to $1, while further growth as a decentralised stablecoin protocol could see it test its current ATH of $1.52 within the first half of next year.
Dogecoin (DOGE)
Dogecoin has also suffered in recent weeks, but its position as the biggest meme token in the market means that we can’t discount its potential for a big breakout in Q4.
While it arguably doesn’t have the fundamentals of the other tokens on this list, its loyal community of supporters gives it the foundation to rally during bullish periods.
Its recent price action has been disappointing, with a recent slip below the 50% Fibonacci retracement level, but the flipside of this is that it’s nearing an upwards correction.
Probably the most bullish feature of its chart below is that its price has formed a pennant in the period since late November, so it seems that it could make a big move very soon.
And given that its indicators have been somewhat flat for the past month, it’s likelier that this move will be positive.
Longer term, Dogecoin is also looking forward to the possibility of ETF approvals, with Bloomberg analysts giving three DOGE funds an 80% chance of approval, higher than similar applications for Cardano, Polkadot, HBAR and Avalanche.
And while talk of DOGE payments on X now seems remote, the social network continues to work towards bringing digital payments to its platform, so a longer term boost in this vein can’t be ruled out.

While the above are the top altcoins for 2025, they won’t be the only tokens to perform well in the event of a strong end-of-year rally. Here are three other cryptocurrencies that are worth watching.
- Internet Computer (ICP): has consolidated strongly in the $5 – $6 range; could break out with a rally above $8.
- Ondo (ONDO): has maintained a very tight Fibonacci structure in the past month, suggesting strong support.
- Degen (DEGEN): a high-risk meme token, but hugely oversold position could predict a breakout in September.
