Tag: VIX Volatility Index

VIX is the financial instrument that tracks the level of volatility of the S&P 500. It is a volatility index, in fact it is the most popular volatility index of the S&P 500. Now, that is exactly a problem: the most popular volatility index is too popular, it does not help investors as there are ‘too many eyeballs’ on this index. That’s why InvestingHaven’s research team developed a unique but actionable and pragmatic volatility index analysis methodology. Every weekend, in the S&P 500 premium service analysis, premium members received a detailed analysis about the S&P 500 combined with a view on 5 distinct volatility indexes (next to the VIX). These volatility indexes tend to be leading indicators of the S&P 500. In other words, while the VIX is a good barometer of the current volatility levels, when complementing with many more volatility indexes, it is possible to get a glimpse of where the S&P 500 is going which is helpful to forecast the short and medium term path of the S&P 500.
